The client wanted to have all his favorite sports at his fingertips and this building fits the bill. With a regulation tennis court, basketball hoops that retract out of the way and an ice hockey rink, there’s not much you can’t do in this building. In the spring and fall you can retract the all glass roof with the touch of a button. In the summer and winter you can cool and heat for a year round experience. The interior of the building is finished in stone and mahogany while the exterior is finished in stone and limestone. This is truly a unique building for a discriminating client.
Some of the main features of this building are:
A retractable glass roof, this roof was made in Canada. It has tinted glass to keep down the solar heat gain. It is fully motorized and can be retracted at a touch of a button.
The concrete floor has thousands of feet of piping imbedded in it so that when the owner wants to play ice hockey they flood the floor with water and it will freeze solid. Not just any water will do to play ice hockey; professional ice hockey is played on reverse osmosis water. This is water that is pure and has no mineral content. In the basement is a large reverse osmosis system capable of supplying enough water to flood the whole rink.
The surface of the court is a monolithic rubberized product. It is designed specifically to be able to play tennis and basketball on.
Attached to the sports complex is a Zamboni house. This houses the owners very own Zamboni.
From the ceiling hangs a professional scoreboard just like you would see at sporting events.
On each end of the building is a set of motorized retractable basketball hoops that can be raised and lowered as needed.
To heat and cool this building as well as be able to make all the ice necessary to play hockey we installed 4 massive chiller units.
