This Art Studio was a once-in-a-lifetime project, designed to be both a sanctuary for art and a space for teaching it. The client envisioned a building that would itself be a piece of art, seamlessly blending beauty and function. To achieve this, we utilized some of the world’s most exquisite woods, installed with unparalleled precision.
The walls and ceilings are clad in plain sliced white oak, milled into a shiplap pattern. While this type of oak is more costly, its radiant grain pattern justifies the expense, offering a visually stunning appearance. White oak was also chosen for all the cabinetry, ensuring a consistent and elegant aesthetic throughout the space.
For the flooring, we selected a mix of teak and reclaimed barn wood, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. In the bathroom, teak covers both the walls and floor, providing durability and a touch of luxury, while the shower features elegant marble.
Attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the studio. Custom switches and outlet covers were crafted from hand-forged steel, adding a unique and artisanal touch. The railings, handmade by a local artist, contribute to the building’s bespoke quality. Even the doors were custom-made from white oak, fitted with rain glass to enhance the sophisticated design.
This project exemplifies exceptional craftsmanship and no expense was spared in its creation. To truly appreciate the artistry and meticulous workmanship that went into this remarkable building, it must be seen in person.
